Financial Literacy Skills

 Life Skills: Financial Literacy Skills addresses all 14 content areas listed in Oklahoma's recently passed Passport to Financial Literacy legislation. This legislation requires instruction in financial literacy for all students, beginning with those who start 7th grade in the 2008-09 school year.

Unit titles include:

  • Managing Money
  • Understanding Banking
  • Using Credit Wisely
  • Understanding Taxes and Insurance
  • Understanding Investing and Home Ownership
  • Understanding Consumer Fraud and Identity Theft

Financial Literacy Skills covers the following pathways in the Finance career cluster:

  • Financial and Investment Planning

We are offering unit 1, "Managing Money," as a free sample to download.

 

Personal Management Skills

 Life Skills: Personal Management Skills replaces Managing Personal Matters. This new curriculum is appropriate for many different areas, including FACS programs, Agricultural Education programs, Skills Center/corrections programs, and adult basic education programs.   • Managing Your Appearance and Health
  • Planning for the Future
  • Preparing for Natural Disasters

Vehicle Ownership Skills

 Life Skills: Vehicle Ownership Skills assists students in all aspects of vehicle ownership. Units include:

  • Purchasing and Insuring an Automobile
  • Maintaining an Automobile
  • Driving Safely
  • Planning a Trip

Personal Relationship Skills

 Life Skills: Personal Relationship Skills replaces the previous edition, Successful Human Relations. The focus of the new edition is to assist you in building the relationship skills that contribute to rewarding interactions with other people in the workplace and beyond. A list of all objectives can be found on the Profile of Training Mastery. Additional resources, including PowerPont presentations, can be downloaded from our website.

  • Building Personal Relationships
  • Defining Married and Single Lifestyles
  • Developing Leadership Skills
  • Using Etiquette and Good Manners Every Day

 

Communication Skills

Citizenship Skills

 Life Skills: Citizenship Skills aligns to Family and Consumer Sciences National Standards (1998) and Center for Civic Education 9-12 Content Standards (1994). Career Success Skills

  • Succeeding on the Job

Three videotapes are available to supplement the text:
